Licence and plans
Activate your licence key, see what your plan includes, move it to another computer, and what happens when a licence runs out.
Your licence key switches on your plan's features in ChatPilot. You find it in your account on chat-pilot.ai and paste it into the app.
Without a licence: developer mode
A copy without a licence runs in developer mode: everything works. Settings → Licence then says so. Once you activate a key, the card shows your plan instead.
Activate your key
- Sign in to chat-pilot.ai/account and open Licence. Press Copy next to Licence key. No licence yet? Start my trial gives you a trial key right away (once per account; nothing to pay, it simply ends).
- In ChatPilot, open Settings → Licence, paste the key (it starts with
cpl1.) and press Activate.
The key is checked on your computer and kept in the Keychain (or your system's secret store). Activating checks in once with the licence service. On a computer without the panel at hand: chatpilot licence set.
What the card shows
- Your plan and its state: active, expired, revoked, too many devices, not checked or not valid, with what to do when it isn't active.
- Devices allowed, Valid until, Last check-in and Works offline until.
- In your plan: every feature, ✓ when your plan includes it.
- Check now checks in at once, New key replaces the key, Remove licence takes it off this computer (ChatPilot goes back to developer mode).
From a terminal: chatpilot licence show, set, check or remove.
Check-ins and working offline
Once a day ChatPilot checks the licence with the licence service. It sends only the licence and a random id for this device, nothing else. Without an answer it keeps working for 14 days, so an outage on our side never stops your inbox. After that the card says not checked: check your internet connection, then press Check now.
Devices and seats
A licence allows a number of devices. On chat-pilot.ai, Licence → Devices lists the computers that use your key. Moving to a new computer? Press Free seat next to the old one: that app stops using the licence at its next daily check-in, and the seat is yours to use again. A device that hasn't checked in for 45 days frees its seat by itself.
When a licence runs out
When a licence has expired, was revoked, is on too many devices or hasn't been checked for too long, your inbox, sorting and drafts keep working. What the plan switched on stops until the licence is in order again: auto-answer, reading and acting in connected systems, ticket destinations and team mode. The screens of those features say why.
An expired licence is renewed on chat-pilot.ai; the new key arrives at the next check-in.
