Any other system (MCP)
Connect a system that isn't in the list through its MCP address, with a key, a sign-in or no key at all.
Many tools offer an MCP server: an address that AI apps use to read (and sometimes change) things in that tool. Any of them can be connected, also ones that aren't in ChatPilot's list.
Connect it
- Settings → Connected systems → + Add system → Other (any MCP server).
- Name: e.g. "Admin panel".
- MCP URL: the address from the system's documentation, usually ending in
/mcp. - Access: an API key, a sign-in or no key (see below).
- Read it: only in chats you bind it to, or in every discussion (Connect a system).
- Click Connect or Sign in.
The three kinds of Access:
- an API key or token: paste it under API key. More options → Key header sets the header it goes in (by default
AuthorizationwithBearer <key>). - sign in (OAuth): you sign in on the system's own page. ChatPilot registers itself there when the system allows it. If not, More options shows Client id, Client secret and the Redirect URL: register an app in the system with that redirect URL and enter its id and secret.
- no key needed: for a system on your own network that needs none.
ChatPilot only gets the tools whose names don't change anything (nothing that creates, updates, deletes, sends …). The others become actions you can switch on. Still, use a read-only key where you can: the name check is a second line of defence.
Signing in on another device
The sign-in tab ends on an address of this computer. If ChatPilot runs on a server, or you signed in on another device, that page doesn't load: copy the address the tab ended on, paste it under the form and click Finish. Open the sign-in page again opens it once more; Stop waiting cancels.
Systems in config.yaml
Systems written in config.yaml (discuss.mcp), including MCP programs that run on this computer, move into Connected systems by themselves at the next start, under the same name. config.yaml keeps them as comments with a line saying so, and a copy of the old file stays next to it. From then on you edit or remove them in the panel like any other. chatpilot mcp in a terminal lists each system and the tools the AI may use.
