Choose which chats ChatPilot may read
Switch chats, groups, channels and mail senders on, one by one or a whole app at once, and choose whether the AI may read them.
Everything starts switched off. Linking an account brings nothing into ChatPilot until you say which chats it may keep, and which of those the AI may read.
The four choices
| Choice | In the list | What it means |
|---|---|---|
| Off | Off | ChatPilot ignores the chat. Nothing of it is kept. |
| Saved, no AI | Saved | Its messages are kept on this computer and show in the inbox. Nothing goes to the AI. |
| ChatPilot can read this | Can read | Also sorted by the AI, with drafts, summaries, Ask ChatPilot and auto-answer. |
| Only the AI on this computer | Local AI | Only your local model reads it; nothing of the chat goes to the main AI. Needs a local model, see Choose the AI. |
Switching a chat Off deletes what ChatPilot kept of it; the panel tells you how many messages that is and asks first.
Where to switch
Open Settings → Which chats ChatPilot may read.

- Per chat: press Off, Saved, Can read or Local AI on its row.
- A whole app at once: each connected app has a card on top with All chats (All mail for a mailbox). Choose Saved or Can read there and every chat of that app you haven't set yourself is switched on, and every new chat from then on too. Your own choice per chat always wins. Off stops switching new chats on; chats that are on stay on.
- Everything shown: narrow the list with the search box (names, and phone numbers in any form) and the filters (Switched on, People, Groups, Channels, Email senders …), then use Set all … shown to set them in one go.
- In the chat itself: while ChatPilot can't read a chat, a bar above its messages offers the same choices. Once it can, they are under More → What ChatPilot may do here.
Mail works per sender: each address you write with is a row. An Email domains row (@example.com) switches every address of that domain at once.

- ★ marks a person as VIP: ChatPilot alerts you when they are waiting on you.
- 🌙 Background is for busy groups and channels you'd rather not see in the inbox. Once a day the control bot sends you only what's worth a look in them (offers, buyers, partners, mentions of you). It needs Can read.
- Pause on an app's card stops it for a while without unlinking; Resume starts it again.
- Done here = read in the app: marking a chat Done in ChatPilot also marks it read in WhatsApp, Telegram or Slack (in WhatsApp that sends read receipts). Off by default.
What Can read sends: the messages of those chats go to the AI you chose, under your agreement with its maker. Chats set to Saved, no AI or Off never do.
