Two-step sign-in

Add a code from an app on your phone to your chat-pilot.ai sign-in, keep backup codes, and get back in when you lose your phone.

You sign in to chat-pilot.ai with a code we e-mail you. Two-step sign-in adds a code from an authenticator app on your phone, so a stolen mailbox alone isn't enough to get into your account. Any authenticator app works.

Switch it on

  1. Sign in to chat-pilot.ai/account and open Sign-in and security.
  2. Press Switch on.
  3. Open your authenticator app and add an account. Scan the QR code, or type the key by hand. On your phone already? Open it in the app adds it directly.
  4. Enter the 6-digit code the app shows and press Check and switch on.
  5. You get 10 backup codes. Each one signs you in once if you don't have your phone. Keep them somewhere safe, like a password manager: you won't see them again. Download saves them as a text file, Copy takes them all; tick I saved them and press Done.

Signing in with it

After the code from your e-mail, a new browser asks for the Code from the app. Tick Remember this browser for 30 days to skip that step on your own computer (not on a shared one). No phone at hand? Use a backup code.

Sign-in and security lists your Remembered browsers. Forget removes one, Forget all every one of them; they then ask for the app's code again.

Backup codes running low

The page shows how many of the 10 are left. New backup codes makes a fresh set after a code from your app; the old codes stop working.

Until you've downloaded your codes or ticked I saved them, your account page and Sign-in and security show No backup codes saved yet. The codes can't be shown again, so make new ones there and save those, or press I have them if you stored them already.

Lost your phone?

With a backup code you can still sign in: do that, then switch two-step sign-in off and on again with your new phone.

Without the app and without backup codes:

  1. Sign in with the code from your e-mail as usual.
  2. On the two-step page, press Lost your phone?, then E-mail me a link.
  3. So that a stolen mailbox alone isn't enough, the link comes after 24 hours, or at once when you ask from a browser that was remembered for your account.
  4. Open the link (it works once, for 30 minutes), scan the new QR code with your new phone and enter its code.

The new app replaces the lost one. You get new backup codes, every remembered browser is forgotten and your other browsers are signed out.

Every e-mail about it has a link to cancel the request, in case it wasn't you. Found your phone meanwhile? Sign in with it as usual and cancel the request from the e-mail.

Still stuck? Write to ChatPilot's makers at devs@chat-pilot.ai from your account's e-mail address.

Switch it off

Sign-in and security → Switch off, then a code from your app or a backup code. Your backup codes and remembered browsers are forgotten too.
