Getting started

The panel at a glance

The five areas of the panel, where the settings are and how to get around quickly.

ChatPilot runs in the background on your computer. You work with it in the panel, a page in your browser, and through your own Telegram bot on your phone.

The five areas

Everything in the panel lives in one of five areas. On a computer they are in the menu on the left; on a phone they are in the bar at the bottom of the screen.

AreaWhat you find there
InboxYour chats and mail from every app, with views such as Needs reply, Urgent and Waiting on them, and one list per app.
TodayWhat needs you today, your tasks, and questions waiting for your answer.
PeopleThe people you talk to, across all apps.
AutomationRules and auto-answer, templates, reports and what ChatPilot learned.
SettingsYour accounts, privacy, the AI, connected systems, team, phone and this app.

Ask ChatPilot sits above the areas: it works from everywhere.

Settings

Settings is one list of cards in five groups: Accounts, Privacy, AI and systems, Team and phone and This app. Type in the search box above the list to find a card. Each card has a What's this? line that tells you in two sentences what it does; Read more opens the page of this manual about it.

Getting around quickly

  • Press ⌘K (Ctrl+K on Windows and Linux) to ask ChatPilot or jump to any chat, page or setting.
  • Press / to search, r to reply and esc to clear a selection. The full list of keys is at the bottom of the menu.

Make the menu yours

Under Settings → What you use ChatPilot for, pick what you use it for (sales, support, building, personal). ChatPilot then puts the matching tools first and orders the cards. It only orders and hides things; nothing is switched on or off. Pick none to see everything.

What you use ChatPilot for: pick one or more
What you use ChatPilot for: pick one or more

Under Settings → Display you first pick a look for all your devices: Casual (the default: friendly, each area and app in its own colour, soft corners), Mono (calm, every icon in the text colour), High contrast, Ocean or Forest, each in light and dark.

Each look comes with an icon set, and you can pick another: Line (thin outlines), Duotone (an outline with a soft fill, Casual's), Filled (solid shapes, easy to see on a phone), Rounded (soft outlines) or Emoji (the look from before the new icons). Your pick stays when you change the look, and holds on all your devices.

Edit look makes it your own: pick your own colours (the accent, ChatPilot's colour, the backgrounds, each area and each app, the status colours), separately for light and dark, the corners and a font. A small preview of the inbox and a chat shows the result as you go; nothing changes until you press Save. When a colour gets hard to read on its background, the editor says which and offers Fix contrast (the nearest colour that reads well), but it never stops you from saving. Export gives your look as a short piece of text to keep or share; Import takes one back. Only the preset drops your own colours again.

In team mode, the owners' look is the team look: everyone sees it until they pick a look of their own. Any change you make under Display makes the look yours (on all the devices you sign in on, nobody else's); Use the team look goes back. Owners pick Look for: Just me or The team to say which one they change, and can switch Own looks off: then everyone sees the team look, and the looks people made stay kept for when it goes back on.

Below it you choose how the panel looks on this device: text size, light or dark, how close together the rows are, 24 or 12 hour times, the order of dates (24 Oct 2026, Oct 24, 2026 or 2026-10-24), animations, the page that opens first (the inbox, its Needs reply or Urgent filter, or Today), whether the icons are in colour (each area and each app its own, the default) or all in one colour (Mono; emoji icons keep their own colours), and how a chat looks: messages as bubbles (yours on the right) or as a list (every message full width, one under the other), the sender's initials beside their messages, and the reading pane: Normal, Full width, or Centred in a column on a wide screen. Each device keeps its own choices; tick All devices next to one to use it on your phone and your laptop alike.

At the bottom, Sound plays a short chime when a new message comes in while ChatPilot is open (also in a background tab): Important (messages from people, VIPs and urgent ones) or Every message; never for the chat you are reading. Try plays it. The browser only allows sound once you have clicked somewhere in the panel. Notifications shows your device's own notifications for the same messages (the same choice as in the menu). It stays on this device only, because each browser asks for permission itself; if you blocked it, allow notifications for the panel's address in the browser's site settings.
