ChatPilot
Auto-answer and safety

Switch on auto-answer

Let ChatPilot answer one chat by itself, openly as your AI assistant, within limits you set.

Auto-answer lets ChatPilot answer a chat by itself. It is off in every chat until you switch it on, one chat at a time, and only in chats ChatPilot may read (Choose which chats ChatPilot may read).

Switch it on

Open the chat and click Auto-answer above the messages (or More → Auto-answer…). The side panel opens on the Auto-answer tab; set Auto-answer for this chat to On. A chat with auto-answer on shows 🤖 auto-answer in the inbox.

What it always does, whatever you set:

  • It answers openly as your AI assistant: it introduces itself once and marks every message (by default 🤖 ChatPilot:).
  • It only sends what it's sure about. Otherwise the reply becomes a draft for you, also sent to your Telegram bot. How sure it must be is the chat's level: see Autonomy levels.
  • It waits until they stop typing, and pauses when you write yourself.
  • Every message it sends is reported to you in Telegram.
  • It stays within the chat's Max per day (below).

The settings on the Auto-answer tab

SettingWhat it does
StyleBusiness: short and to the point, or Personal: chatty, for family and friends (it keeps the conversation going; plans, money, promises and serious things still wait for you).
AutonomyHow much it may answer by itself here. Not set here takes the person's, a tag's or the default level.
What to doYour instructions in plain words, e.g. "Answer questions about prices and availability, leave anything else to me". Changed it by mistake? Undo.
IntroductionWhat it says the first time it answers in this chat.
MarkThe text in front of each of its messages.
When you writePause 15 minutes, 30 minutes, 1 hour or 2 hours after your own message, or keep answering. A pause shows ▶ resume now.
Max per dayThis chat's own daily maximum.
Start a conversationOne-to-one chats only: see When ChatPilot writes first.

Changes save by themselves.

Who it is writing to

With auto-answer on, ChatPilot reads all your chats with that person to learn who they are, shown as 🧠 ChatPilot knows: … on the tab (Refresh reads them again). If the chat isn't linked to a person yet, it offers to link it first. See People and client cards.

Stop it

  • One chat: set Auto-answer for this chat to Off.
  • Every chat at once: Automation → Rules & auto-answer → Autonomy → Off everywhere, or send /autopilot off to your Telegram bot (/autopilot on resumes). Nothing is answered by itself until you switch it back on; your per-chat settings stay.
