Getting started
Link Slack
Connect a Slack workspace through a small Slack app of your own, so channels and direct messages come into the inbox.
ChatPilot reads Slack through a small Slack app that you make in your own workspace. The card fills in everything for you; you copy two tokens back. One app per workspace.
Connect a workspace
- In the panel, open Settings → Slack and press + Add workspace.
- Click Create the ChatPilot app in Slack. Slack opens with the app's settings already filled in: pick your workspace and press Create.
- In the app's page: Basic Information → App-Level Tokens → Generate, give it the scope
connections:write, and copy the token that starts withxapp-. - Install App → Install to Workspace → Allow, and copy the User OAuth Token that starts with
xoxp-. - Paste both into the card (App token, User token) and press Check & connect.
In a workspace where you're not an admin, an admin may have to approve the app first.
The card then shows the workspace as connected. Every channel and direct message starts switched off: go on with Choose which chats ChatPilot may read.
When something doesn't come in
- Check permissions tells you which permissions the app is missing, and how to add them (in the app's page: OAuth & Permissions → User Token Scopes, then Reinstall to Workspace). Paste the new user token with New tokens.
- No events received yet next to a workspace means Slack isn't sending messages to ChatPilot. The card says which events to switch on under Event Subscriptions.
To add another workspace, press + Add workspace again.
