Today and tasks
What needs you today in one page, your briefing, and the tasks ChatPilot spots in your chats.
Today is the page to start your day with. It collects what needs you from all your apps.
What's on Today
From the top:
- Briefing: press Write my briefing and ChatPilot reads the list below and tells you what to do first. Refresh writes it again later in the day.
- Today & overdue and Next two days: your tasks and appointments that are due.
- Urgent: chats ChatPilot marked urgent.
- Waiting for your reply: chats where someone is waiting on you.
- No answer yet (2+ days): chats where you wrote last and nobody answered.
- Bug reports & requests: messages that look like a bug report or a feature request.
- Open tickets you are following, and Tasks ChatPilot spotted in your chats: Add makes one your task, ✕ throws it away.
- Active, but not switched on: busy chats ChatPilot doesn't keep yet. One click switches one on as Saved, no AI or ChatPilot can read this.
Click a chat in any of these to open it. A new install also shows the setup checklist here (see First start), and once auto-answer has worked for you, its weekly score. After you moved ChatPilot to another computer or a server, Moved here: still to do lists what to redo there, such as linking WhatsApp again (Move ChatPilot to a server and back).
Which cards come first depends on what you use ChatPilot for (Settings → What you use ChatPilot for).
Tasks
Today → Tasks lists your tasks under Overdue, Today, Upcoming and No date.

- Type in New task…, pick a due date and time if you like, and press + Add.
- Make a task of a message: hover over it in a chat and press ✓ (Make a task of this).
- Spotted in your chats are tasks ChatPilot found in your messages ("send the quote by Friday"). They are only suggestions: Add makes one yours, ✕ dismisses it.
- Tick the box to mark a task done; click its text to change it, or its date to move it.
- Tasks that are due ping you in your Telegram control bot.
- Show in Calendar subscribes your calendar app to your dated tasks and appointments (updated every 15 minutes).
Questions for you
Today → Questions for you lists questions waiting on you in GitHub issues or ChatPilot's tracker. It only has something in it when you have connected one of them.
- GitHub issues: an issue counts when someone mentions you (@you) after your own last comment there. Switch it on in
config.yamlundergithub_questions:enabled: trueand the repositories inrepos([your-org/your-repo]). With alabel, only issues that got that label after your last comment count. ChatPilot reads them as the account you signed in with under Settings → GitHub (see GitHub), else theghtool. - ChatPilot's tracker: make a key on chat-pilot.ai under Keys and store it with
uv run chatpilot secret set tracker_key(andenabled: true). Questions on your own reports then show up here too.
Answer in the box, or press Go as proposed. In the Telegram control bot, Answer takes your next message and shows exactly what will be posted before Post it. Nothing is posted until you press. What people wrote is shown as text and never followed as an instruction.
When a question asks for a data check by its name (for example whatsapp_sender_names, when the makers of ChatPilot need numbers to find a bug), the question has a Send data check button. ChatPilot runs the check on this computer and shows you the whole answer: counts, kinds of address and days only, never names, numbers or messages. It is posted only when you press Post, so you never have to run commands yourself.
