Google Meet transcripts
Connect Google Meet so the transcript of each meeting comes into ChatPilot after it ends.
Google Meet brings your meetings into ChatPilot: after a meeting ends, ChatPilot fetches its transcript and keeps it with your chats, so the meeting can show up in that person's history. ChatPilot doesn't do the video: it never joins a call and never records one. Meetings in Microsoft Teams: see Microsoft Teams transcripts. All of it at a glance, with what each kind of account needs: Meetings: links, transcripts and summaries.
Connect it
- Open Settings → Meeting platforms.
- Click Connect Google Meet and sign in with the Google account you hold your meetings with, in the tab that opens.
- Google asks whether ChatPilot may see your Google Meet meetings. Allow it.
This is a sign-in of its own: connecting a Gmail mailbox never asks for your meetings, and connecting Google Meet doesn't give ChatPilot your mail or your Drive. ChatPilot asks to read your meetings, who took part and their transcripts, and, for Meeting links in the reply box, to see when you're busy (nothing else of your calendar) and to make meetings with a Meet link.
Right after connecting, ChatPilot looks at the meetings of the last week. After that it checks every 15 minutes; Check now checks at once.
When there is a transcript
Google only makes a transcript when
- your Google Workspace plan has meeting transcripts (personal Google accounts don't), and
- someone switched Transcripts on in the meeting (Activities → Transcripts).
Google needs a few minutes after the meeting to finish the transcript. Until then the card says how many are still being made by Google; ChatPilot asks again at each check, for up to a day.
In the person's history
Each meeting with a transcript becomes one Meeting line in that person's chat, at the time it ended, and shows under Meetings on their page in People. Click it to see the date, how long it took, who was there, a short summary (five lines at most) and the action points. Show transcript shows everything that was said. Search finds meetings too, by words in the summary or the transcript.
ChatPilot finds the person by an attendee's e-mail address or phone number in your contacts. Google Meet only gives the attendees' names, so most Google Meet meetings come to Today as Who was this meeting with?: pick the person (people with a matching name are offered first) and click This person, or Not a contact to leave the meeting out of your history. ChatPilot never guesses.
The summary is written by the AI you chose, only when ChatPilot may read one of that person's chats with AI; for a person whose chat is on Only my own AI, only your own AI writes it. The action points land in your follow-ups as tasks ChatPilot spotted, where you add or dismiss them. If a summary didn't work, open the meeting and click Summarise again.
Pause or disconnect
- The switch Fetch transcripts after each meeting pauses it; the sign-in stays.
- Disconnect forgets the sign-in and stops fetching. Transcripts ChatPilot already has stay, until the kept time is up or you delete them (below).
If the card shows a warning (the sign-in expired, or Google doesn't allow reading your meetings), click Sign in again.
Summaries and how long meetings are kept
These go for every meeting platform: open For every meeting platform on the same card.
- Summarise meetings automatically is on at first: after a meeting with someone whose chat has AI on, your AI writes a short summary and the action points. That sends the transcript to the AI you chose (Access → AI); for a person whose chat is set to Only my own AI, it stays with your own AI. Switched off, new meetings are kept but no AI reads them by itself; Summarise again on one meeting still makes its summary.
- Keep meetings says how long ChatPilot keeps a meeting and its transcript: 30, 90 (the default), 180 or 365 days after the meeting, or until you delete them. A shorter time counts at once.
- Show kept meetings lists them; Delete forgets one meeting and its transcript, and ChatPilot doesn't fetch it again. The meeting itself stays with the platform.
A transcript is what people said in the meeting: ChatPilot treats it as information, never as an instruction.
