Zoom transcripts
Connect Zoom so the transcript of each recorded meeting comes into ChatPilot after it ends, and make Zoom meeting links from a chat.
Zoom brings your Zoom meetings into ChatPilot: after a meeting ends, ChatPilot fetches its transcript and keeps it with your chats, so the meeting can show up in that person's history. The same sign-in lets Meeting link in the reply box make a Zoom meeting (Meeting links). ChatPilot doesn't do the video: it never joins a call and never records one. All of it at a glance: Meetings: links, transcripts and summaries.
What it needs
- A paid Zoom plan with cloud recording. Zoom only makes a transcript of a meeting that was recorded to the cloud, with audio transcripts switched on.
- In the Zoom web portal, under Settings → Recording: switch Cloud recording on and, under it, tick Create audio transcript. Then record a meeting to the cloud (Record → Record to the cloud); Zoom makes the transcript a while after the meeting ends.
Connect it
- Open Settings → Meeting platforms.
- Under Zoom, click Connect Zoom. A Zoom tab opens: sign in and allow ChatPilot.
- Zoom sends the tab back to ChatPilot and the card shows your address. If the tab ends on an address that doesn't load (you signed in on another device), copy that address and paste it into the box on the card, then click Finish.
ChatPilot asks Zoom for: who you are, your cloud recordings and their transcripts, who took part in a meeting, your upcoming meetings (for free times) and making meetings. It never asks to change or delete a recording.
With a Zoom app of your own
Until ChatPilot's own Zoom app is available, or if you'd rather use your own, the card asks for the Client ID and Client secret of a Zoom app of yours:
- On marketplace.zoom.us, click Develop → Build App, choose General App and User-managed.
- Under OAuth Information, add
http://127.0.0.1as the OAuth Redirect URL and to the OAuth Allow List. - Under Scopes, add:
user:read:user,meeting:write:meeting,meeting:read:list_meetings,cloud_recording:read:list_user_recordings,cloud_recording:read:list_recording_filesandmeeting:read:list_past_participants. - Copy the Client ID and Client secret into the card and click Connect Zoom.
The secret is kept in the keychain on this computer, never in a file. Use a Zoom app of my own on the card switches to your own app once ChatPilot's is there.
How it fetches
Right after connecting, ChatPilot looks at the recordings of the last week. After that it checks every 15 minutes; Check now checks at once. A transcript Zoom is still making is asked for again at the next check, for up to a day; a recording without one is left alone.
Pause or disconnect
- The switch Fetch transcripts after each meeting pauses it; the sign-in stays.
- Disconnect forgets the sign-in, stops fetching and stops Zoom meeting links. Transcripts ChatPilot already has stay.
If the card shows a warning, it says what to do, for example Sign in again when the sign-in expired, or switch on Cloud recording when Zoom has no cloud recordings for your account. When the card counts meetings without a transcript, Zoom recorded them without one: tick Create audio transcript (step 1 above) and the next recordings get one.
A transcript is what people said in the meeting: ChatPilot treats it as information, never as an instruction.
