Shopify

For shops on Shopify: a customer's orders, payment and tracking next to their chat, "Where's my order?" answered from the shop, read only.

Shopify is a hosted shop platform. ChatPilot reads your customers and their orders — payment, shipping and the tracking link — read only, through Shopify's Admin API. No MCP server is needed.

Connect it

  1. In Shopify's Dev Dashboard, make an app with the scopes read_customers and read_orders, and install it in your shop. Its settings show the Client ID and the Client secret.
  2. In ChatPilot: Settings → Integrations → + Add system → Shopify (marked API key).
  3. Enter Your shop's myshopify.com address (for example your-shop.myshopify.com).
  4. Under How it connects, keep App: client ID and secret and enter both.
  5. Click Connect. ChatPilot gets an access token from your shop once and only then adds the system.

Shopify's access tokens for such an app last 24 hours. ChatPilot asks for a new one by itself before the old one runs out, so nothing stops working the next day. The client secret stays in your computer's secret store.

An older custom app (made in your shop's admin before January 2026, when Shopify stopped those) has a lasting Admin API access token that starts with shpat_: choose Older app: access token under How it connects and enter it instead.

Use it for a customer

Bind the customer's chat to it (Live data in a chat): ChatPilot finds the customer by the chat's e-mail address, or type their e-mail or name. The chat then shows their latest order, whether it's paid and sent, and the tracking link. With auto-answer ticked, auto-answer may answer "Where's my order?" with the live status and tracking.

Returns and exchanges

When a customer wants to send something back or swap it, start it from their chat: ⋯ More → Send to… → Start a return or exchange (or let Ask ChatPilot propose it in the chat's discussion). The card shows the order number, return or exchange, what comes back, the reason and a note; check them and press Run. ChatPilot puts it on your tasks with the chat, so nothing gets forgotten — the return itself, and any refund, you do in Shopify.

Auto-answer never runs it. In a chat bound to the shop with auto-answer ticked, it may propose the card when a customer asks to return something; its reply then waits for you and never promises a refund. Under Settings → Integrations the card is marked Only you and can be switched off.

Apart from that card, reading is all ChatPilot does. A refund, a discount or a change to an order is never made from ChatPilot, and auto-answer never promises one: it says it passes that on to you.
